Recent and current professional activities:
As past Chairperson (2001) of the Southern African Association of Research in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (SAARMSTE) I am now serving on the Executive Committee of SAARMSTE. Since 2001 I am member of the South African National Committee for the International Mathematical Union, and I am serving as Education Expert on the South African National Commission for UNESCO. My research interests include mathematics teacher education; social, cultural, political perspectives and preactices in mathematics education; and issues of educational research methodologies.

I am involved in teaching both the undergrad/post grad students. My current research involvement centres on the Learner's Perspective Study and into the history of mathematics teaching and learning (nationally & internationally).
